Ultrasound determination of left ventricular position for volume angiography.

چکیده
The reliability of angiographically determined left ventricular (LV) volume is in part dependent upon the accuracy of the determination of the position of the left ventricular (LV) chamber in rehtion to the x-ray image intensifier. A new device is described which utilizes available ultrasound techniques and equipment to ascertain readily the height of the LV above the table top with the patient lying in the right anterior oblique position. Comparison of cross-table radiography with the ultrasound method was carried out. In addition, multiple external body dimensions were obtained which did not consistently predict LV position. The height of the LV above the table top can be obtained readily by the ultrasound technique described and requires minimal expertise for its accurate measurement.

متن کاملLeft ventricular volume calculations using a multiplanar transoesophageal echoprobe; in vitro validation and comparison with biplane angiography.
BACKGROUND Biplane angiographic and transthoracic echocardiographic volume calculations have shown to be sufficiently reliable in symmetric hearts; however, they are unreliable in the presence of aneurysmatic distortions. Multiplane transoesophageal echocardiography offers unobstructed cross-sectional views of the heart from one stable transducer position with the potential of imaging irregular...
متن کاملEffect of filming projection and interobserver variability on angiographic biplane left ventricular volume determination.
Although biplane right anterior oblique-left anterior oblique (RAO/LAO) quantitative left ventricular (LV) angiography is commonly performed, justification of LV volume calculation using the area length method (originally formulated from anteroposterior-lateral (AP/LAT) angiograms) has been limited. To assess whether RAO/LAO and AP/LAT LV volumes are similar when computed by the area length met...

AIMS To assess if myocardial deformation imaging allows definition of an optimal left ventricular (LV) lead position with improved effectiveness of cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) on LV reverse remodelling. METHODS Circumferential strain imaging based on tracking of acoustic markers within 2D echo images (GE Ultrasound) was performed in 47 heart failure patients (59 +/- 9 years, 28 me...
